Can I come for a consultation during my menstruation? Yes, your appointment can take place during your menstruation, however, you may need to reschedule if you have additional tests planned (e.g. rectoscopy) Is a per rectum examination always performed at the first visit? Decision to perform the test per rectum depends on the complaints reported and is decided individually by the doctor. We always respect the patient's right to refuse examination. How long does a proctology consultation take? The first appointment with a proctology specialist usually lasts around 15-25 minutes. This time allows for a thorough history, examination and discussion of the treatment plan. Follow-up visits are usually shorter. How soon can I return to normal activity after a proctology consultation? In most cases, you can return to normal activity straight away. If additional examinations or minor procedures have been performed during your visit, your doctor will give you specific recommendations for activity during the post-operative period.
