Interventional radiology consultation

Interventional radiology consultation

Vascular Laboratory of the Department of Phlebology. Interventional radiologists.

Introduction

Interventional radiology consultation is a specialised medical service during which an experienced diagnostician and surgical radiologist analyses the results of imaging studies of the venous and arterial systems. At the Phlebology Clinic, we offer a professional evaluation of radiological examinations with a detailed description and recommendations for further therapeutic management. Our knowledge and experience allow us to accurately diagnose vascular diseases and plan the optimal treatment process. In particular, we specialise in minimally invasive treatment of venous disease under the control of the latest ultrasound, IVUS and fully digitalised low-dose phlebography equipment.

How to prepare for the consultation?

Before consulting an interventional radiologist, it is worthwhile:

  • prepare a concise description of your ailment and your medical history;
  • complete and chronologically organise previously collected medical records;
  • provide CDs/DVDs with up-to-date imaging studies (the CDs must contain imaging data in DICOM format);
  • write down any questions you have about your health.

For patients from remote locations, we offer remote consultation. Examinations can be sent by courier or electronically - by prior arrangement with the Phlebology Clinic Registry. To do so, you will need to set up a Patient Card in our system and prepare a description of your medical history (see above).

Mostly
questions asked

  • In most cases, the remote consultation of interventional radiology cases allows for as accurate an examination as an inpatient visit. However, in some situations there may be a need to examine the patient directly (e.g. with Doppler ultrasound) and analyse their symptoms intravital. It is then necessary to make an appointment with an interventional radiologist on site in Warsaw.

  • No, a consultation with an interventional radiology specialist at the Phlebology Clinic does not require a referral. All you need to do is make an appointment through our Registration Desk. At the Phlebology Clinic we do not provide services under the National Health Fund (NHF).

  • A standard consultation lasts approximately 20-30 minutes, depending on the complexity of the case and the amount of material provided for analysis.

  • It all depends on the mode of consultation and the complexity of the problem being analysed. Sometimes, in the case of an on-site consultation, its description and conclusions with a treatment plan are delivered the same day. In the case of remote consultations with a high degree of complexity, the service is sometimes provided within 4-6 weeks.

  • Imaging examinations can be provided on CD/DVD in DICOM format, which ensures the highest image quality and the possibility of accurate analysis. It is also possible to make diagnostic data available by remote upload, e.g. via wetransfer.com. Detailed instructions are provided by our Registry.
