Venography The Phlebology Clinic / Services / Venography Introduction Scope of service Specialists Introduction Venography is an advanced diagnostic imaging method of the venous system that allows a detailed assessment of the condition of the venous vessels in the body. The word "venography" with the submission of two separate terms: "vena" (Latin) means vein and "graphics" (from gr.graphein'), meaning writing, drawing or picturing. The term came into general use in the 1960s and 1970s with the development of radiological techniques. Initially, it referred to classical phlebography, i.e. the direct injection of a contrast agent into a venous vessel and the taking of an image or series of X-ray images. Nowadays, the term has changed significantly and includes modern imaging techniques such as: computed tomography venography Computed Tomography Venography (CTV) magnetic resonance venography (Magnetic Resonance Venography, MRV) Unlike the original phlebographic techniques, modern venography is a less invasive imaging method. In its case, a contrast agent is injected into a peripheral vein, and then its propagation with the bloodstream and its effect on the vessels and tissues is tracked by appropriate diagnostic equipment (MRI or CT scan). MR venography uses a magnetic field, is used in younger patients (especially in women where endometriosis or adhesions need to be ruled out) and offers particularly accurate imaging of soft tissues, while CT venography, based on X-rays, offers excellent anatomical precision and shorter examination times. Venography in CT or MR is a study in the group of so-called 'CT-guided' examinations. enhanced diagnostics. They should be carried out after a prior Doppler ultrasound examination of the veins and a thorough examination of the patient. At Phlebology Clinic we do not carry out examinations from the extended diagnostic category (venography) without first examining the patient, without analysing his or her medical records and without first performing a comprehensive Doppler ultrasound examination of the venous system. DR N. MED. CEZARY SZARY What distinguishes the venography examinations commissioned at the Phlebology Clinic? The staff at the Department of Phlebology have many years of experience in assessing the use of the latest diagnostic tests in the evaluation of venous vessels; we perform comprehensive venography diagnostics using highly specialised diagnostic equipment in the CMS Diagnostic Imaging Laboratory; Our team is made up of experienced specialists from various fields of medicine: radiologists and imaging diagnosticians who deal with vein treatment on a daily basis, phlebologists, interventional radiologists and vascular surgeons; We offer a full range of diagnostic imaging of the venous system - from simple varicose veins to complex complex venous malformations; we ensure a personalised approach to each patient and the selection of the optimal diagnostic path using all necessary diagnostic methods. venography examinations are performed in a modern diagnostic laboratory equipped with the latest generation of equipment (2 Philips 3-Tesla instruments), which guarantees the highest quality of imaging. Ask our Dr. Venus! Ask Dr Venus a question Are iodine contrast agents used during MR venography? Gadolinium contrast agents, rather than iodine contrast agents, are used during MR venography. Gadolinium contrast agents are applied intravenously in small amounts, making this method of examination extremely minimally invasive and accurate. 01 / Vascular spider veins Dilated subcutaneous capillaries and reticular veins are a common symptom heralding the development of venous insufficiency. Their occurrence should not be underestimated. 02 / Varicose veins of the lower limbs They are the most common symptom of venous insufficiency of the lower limbs. Their occurrence should not be underestimated. At the Phlebology Clinic, we treat venous disease causally. 03 / Venous edema of the shin An enlargement of the shin circumference that increases in the evening, accompanied by a feeling of heaviness, is usually a symptom of venous insufficiency. Think about having a venous Doppler ultrasound examination! 04 / Pelvic venous insufficiency Painful and prolonged periods, heaviness in the legs during menstruation, pain during intercourse and burning in the intimate area are just some of the symptoms of pelvic venous insufficiency. Find out more! 05 / Venous compression syndromes It is a group of anatomically determined venous disorders leading to early onset of pelvic venous insufficiency and varicose veins on the legs. It affects both ladies and gentlemen! 06 / Venous disease in pregnancy Not sure when to start wearing compression stockings? Do you suspect vulvar varicose veins or have noticed sudden swelling of a limb during pregnancy! Don't wait to develop venous disease - consult our phlebologist for your symptoms. 07 / Varicose veins of the spermatic cord Up to 40% cases of male infertility may be related to varicose veins of the seminal vagina. This form of pelvic venous insufficiency is one of the more common causes of varicose veins on the legs and a cause of discomfort in the groin and scrotum. Early diagnosis increases the chance of a full cure! 08 / Venous thrombosis Swelling of the leg, pain and redness are alarm signals that should not be ignored. Venous thrombosis is an emergency condition that requires immediate diagnosis by Doppler ultrasound. If untreated, it can lead to life-threatening pulmonary embolism. 01 / 08 Modern vein treatment We offer treatment both on an outpatient basis and in day ward admissions. The stay is of short duration. The patient spends between 1 and 5 hours in the Clinic.
